Soldier Field Soldier Field, O'Hare: A full list of parking lots that could be impacted by Chicago-area strike It's not just Soldier Field that could be impacted. By Keely Arthur and NBC Chicago Staff • Published 4 minutes ago • Updated 18 seconds ago Soldier Field parking could become tricky for fans heading to Sunday night's Chicago Bears game as workers for the company that operates the lots warn of an ongoing strike. But it's not just Soldier Field that could be impacted. Stream NBC 5 for free, 24/7, wherever you are. WATCH HERE Teamsters Local 727 told NBC Chicago there will be no parking at Soldier Field if their strike continues through the weekend, warning that fans could face a picket line if the stadium parking operator brings in nonunion workers. "If we do not reach an agreement [Friday], there will be no parking at Soldier Field," the union told NBC 5 in a statement. "If SP+/Metropolis who operates there, attempts to use non-union, untrained temps in order to park cars, the Union asks members of the Chicago community to stand with our striking workers and not cross the picket line that will be erected there. For people going to the Bears game, I would expect long delays from the lack of parking." The ongoing strike, involving more than 1,200 workers, began Tuesday. Up until now, many drivers have told NBC 5 Investigates they haven’t noticed a difference, but that will soon change. According to the union, the strike has been taking place from home, but that could change if no agreement is reached Friday. The union represents workers from Metropolis, which operates all 15 game-day lots and garages. That includes parking lots at both of the city's airports. In a statement to NBC 5 Investigates, Metropolis said it has a “contingency plan in place that ensures Bears fans have a smooth parking experience this Sunday.” NBC 5 Investigates reached out to the Chicago Park District, which owns the lots at Solider Field for comment. The union told NBC 5 Investigates that even automated garages could face issues, including customers having trouble paying, gates failing to raise or lower, cleanliness concerns, and security problems.
